Info Post

We’ve covered a lot of pop-star Internet feuds in our day, but this is perhaps the most bizarre: The government of the Phillipines has taken symbolic action against Justin Bieber, after the baby-faced singer made fun of boxer Manny Pacquiao on Instagram.

In the wake of Pacquiao’s knockout defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez, Bieber posted a series of mocking Photoshops of the bout, including this Lion King-themed one, which Bieber captioned “Dad, wake up”:

The pictures made Bieber some enemies in the Phillipine Congress, of which Pacquiao is a member. Seven representatives introduced a formal censure of the Biebs, and threatened to ban him from the country unless he apologized:

Mr. Bieber should have known that the Hon. Pacquiao has reached his stature as such as a result of sheer hard work, determination and firm belief in God, and despite such stature best exemplifies humility and grace even in defeat.

Unfortunately for Filipino Beliebers, the apology appears to be unforthcoming: Justin does not appear to be feeling any remorse over besmirching Pacquiao’s good name. As he posted on Instagram later, ” If they were Beliebers I know they wouldn’t leave my side over a boxing opinion I have.” He’s really fighting for forever with this!
