Ah, Christmas: that wonderful time of the year when parents make a goodhearted effort to understand their kids’ weird obsessions long enough to buy them a gift that they won’t hate. But, try though they might, some parents just can’t get it together, especially if their kid’s interest lies in the complex and opaque world of One Direction fandom.
