Info Post

Are we welcoming the new year or are we ushering out the old one? However you view New Year’s Eve, “Call Me Maybe” will probably stick around. But if Psy can help it, “Gangnam Style” might just not.

The One Billion YouTube Wonder told Rolling Stone that he plans to phase out his biggest hit after performing it in Times Square to thousands of revelers (and the thousands tuning in from home):

“Being in Times Square on New Year’s Eve is already special – it’s the biggest stage in the universe – plus it’s my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the ending of ‘Gangnam Style,’” said Psy. “I mean, what better way to do it? It’s my biggest and most meaningful birthday.”

A bold statement, sure. Especially when Gangnam hit a billion just a few weeks ago. If that’s a sign of anything to come, the famous pony dance won’t be falling off the charts just because we’ve entered a new calendar year. And that must mean that Psy has a new single in the worlds, and perhaps (FINGERS CROSSED!!!) a new dance sensation to go along with it?

“So let me say that in America I need a new single because ‘Gangnam Style’ got too popular, so I’ve got to write a new single.”

Hold up, you’re still writing a new single? The countdown is (already) on.
