Sure, the balladeer’s got great legs and is in enviable shape for her 44 years. But nothing could prepare the world, Celine fans included, for the pictorial that V Magazine unleashed this morning.

In the photos from the publication’s Travel Issue, the mother of three and wife to René Angélil (her 70-year-old manager and the guy that looks like a French-Canadian Santa Claus) goes topless, poses in super-short cut-offs and knee-high boots and is even captured from behind in just her undies, heels and a sweater.

The hubbub over the images briefly brought down the magazine’s website this morning and the press went bonkers. The New York Daily News remarked over her “mile-long legs” while People called the spread “risqué,” “high-fashion” and “surprisingly immodest.” Prudes.
The very un-Celine wardrobe choices included Jeremy Scott’s stuffed animal-covered overalls for Adidas, a black leather Trash And Vaudeville cap and J Brand white jean shorts.

V scribe Derek Blasberg reports that this is Celine’s first non-promotional photo shoot in more than six years. As she says, “I was scared a little bit because this was so different for me, but I’m glad I did it. Usually there’s always a reason when I do a photo shoot, there’s not the opportunity to go crazy. With this it was two in the morning and I was still jumping on the trampoline.” If you want to get your hands on some hard copies, the issue hits newsstands August 30.
