Rick Ross has put out the call, and an enraptured and probably slightly intimidated nation has answered. Rozay’s fifth album, God Forgives, I Don’t has debuted at #1 on the album charts—Ross’s fourth chart-topper in five tries, with ’10′s Teflon Don the only effort of his to fall short, hitting #2. This one, however, comes with The Bawse’s best first-week numbers to date, as GFID sells 218k, the second-best sales number of any hip-hop release this year behind Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. (And you might even question whether that even counts as a real hip-hop release, at least if your name is Peter Rosenberg.)

Meanwhile, Our Girl Carly Rae Jepsen officially has herself the biggest hit of 2012. With its ninth week at #1, “Call Me Maybe” breaks its tie with Gotye and Kimbra’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and is now alone in its status as the year’s longest-running #1 single, with the longest reign of any song since Rihanna and Calvin Harris spent ten weeks on top with “We Found Love.” An unlikely competitor remains waiting in the wings, however, as Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” bounds from 5-2 on the charts this week, one spot away from marking the fourth straight #1 from an artist who’d never charted before. That’d be pretty something, wouldn’t it?
