Info Post

Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be aging country stars—they take some mean fuckin’ mug shots. 52-year-old country legend Randy Travis, behind such genre classics as “Forever and Ever Amen” and “I Told You So,” put himself back in the country books for a very different reason yesterday. Travis was discovered in a crashed ’98 Pontiac, with no clothes but a whole lot of cuts and bruises, as well as the “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication.” (You mean besides the cuts, nudity and wrecked car?)

Travis was not finished digging his own hole, however. (We mean that figuratively, though with a story like this, it’s very possible there was some literal hole-digging as well for whatever reason.) Once dragged naked into the cop car, Travis “threatened to ‘shoot and kill the Troopers working the case,’” resulting in a retaliation charge being slapped onto his DWI. He was released on bail earlier this afternoon after a $21,500 bond was posted.

Needless to say, it all resulted in a positively epic mug shot. It might still fall just short of the all-time gold standard set by Nick Nolte in 2002, but ’tis a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer just the same.

So close to 6' even, Randy.

Really, the only thing this story is missing is a tractor and a ten-gallon hat, and it’d be the very embodiment of country cliché. Living that life, Randy Travis.
