Info Post

Pledis Entertainment announced today that Orange Caramel, the glorious sub-unit of After School, will be returning with a new digital in the next few days. It’s great news for K-poppers everywhere, but making things even more interesting is that the new tune will feature the trio’s rookie boy band labelmates, NU’EST, who debuted earlier this year with the not-so-great, “Face.”

The two groups teased their big collaboration in this cuddly teaser pic (see above), which hints that they’re going for some kind of stuffed toy zoo animal concept. It actually looks more like they’re posing for a kids commercial than a K-pop single, but considering the kind of far-out concepts that Orange Caramel have sported in the past, this is probably the most normal thing they’ve ever done.

It’s no surprise to see Pledis pushing Orange Caramel over After School. Since “Lipstick” smashed the charts, OC have been more popular than their mother group — so much so that it’s easy to forget that they’re just a sub-unit and not a full-fledged group of their own. Pledis is smart to promote the girls while they’re hot, and teaming them up with NU’EST might actually help the struggling boy band gain some attention after being overshadowed by many of 2012′s other male rookies. But with that said, NU’EST are never going to get popular until the stop releasing crappy music …

Here’s to hoping that this upcoming collabo is more “Lipstick,” and less “Action.”
