We were a little afraid that this one was lost to time, a casualty of the cutting-room floor never to see the light of day. But luckily for us, we were recently tipped to the fact that the famous “fondue intro” to Justin Bieber’s latest video, “As Long As You Love Me,” was in fact available for viewing on the internet in all its early-draft glory. Naturally, we felt it our civic duty to share it with you guys.
Watching it now, it’s not totally surprising that Bieber and director Anthony Mandler decided to ditch the original’s fondue debate for a more clichéd star-crossed love story—if only to give female lead Chanel Celaya more of a fleshed-out part. Still, it’s worth a watch as a curiosity, a what-could-have-been. Check it out, preferably while chilling by the fire.
