Info Post

If you visited certain corners of the Internet Monday night, you probably saw this video of Yoko Ono covering Katy Parry’s “Firework” video:

Hilarious, right? In fact, it’s almost as hilarious as this video of Yoko Ono singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which was uploaded to YouTube a year ago:

Or Yoko Ono singing Iron Maiden, from two years ago:

Or Yoko Ono singing Bruno Mars:

The point is, this is a running gag, where people take the original video of Yoko singing “Voice Piece for Soprano & Wish Tree” and add their own instrumental backing tracks to it, for laffs. It’s fake. We hate being the meme police*, but we thought it was necessary in this case. Stop crapping on Yoko Ono, everyone, she’s awesome! If you want a real “Firework” meme, go see Rust and Bone , we guess?

Of course, all this mess could be avoided by reading the YouTube summary of the Firework video:

This beautiful rendition of the Katy Perry tune Fireworks is a mashup-parody protected by laws governing satire and free-use.

*Just kidding, we love being the meme police.
